What is Leave No Gap?
Leave No Gap is a 4-hour intensive training program for agency leadership — chiefs, sheriffs, command staff, and HR leads. Built around one premise: when a Line of Duty Death occurs, your agency's response will be as strong as the preparation you put in before it happened.
This training goes far beyond awareness. Participants work through real policy frameworks, role assignments, and procedural protocols — leaving with the foundation for a formal LODD Standard Operating Procedure their agency can implement immediately.
From the moment a LODD is confirmed to the long-term support of surviving families, Leave No Gap equips leadership with the tools, roles, and language needed to lead with clarity under the most difficult circumstances imaginable.
It also introduces Project COMPASS — a 12-month mentorship framework pairing larger departments with smaller agencies to build regional LODD preparedness capacity.

Key Roles Covered
Every position. Every responsibility.
Leave No Gap defines and assigns the critical roles every agency needs filled before a LODD occurs.
Family Liaison
The designated agency representative who serves as the primary point of contact for the surviving family from notification through the service and beyond.
Funeral Planning Coordinator
Coordinates honor guard, service logistics, and funeral arrangements in alignment with the officer's Carry On Packet preferences.
Benefits Navigator
Responsible for guiding the family through PSOB, PSOEA, COBRA, and all available benefits — ensuring nothing is missed and deadlines are met.
IRO Committee
The Internal Review and Oversight Committee — responsible for legal documentation, policy review, and long-term administrative follow-through after a LODD.
Duty Commander
The command-level officer responsible for activating the LODD SOP, coordinating internal communication, and managing the agency's immediate response.
Bridging Care Coordinator
Connects surviving family members with licensed mental health professionals through the Front Line Wellness Bridging Care program — at no cost to the family.
Project COMPASS.
Smaller agencies often lack the resources to build LODD preparedness infrastructure on their own. Project COMPASS changes that — pairing experienced mentor agencies with smaller protégé departments through a structured 12-month curriculum.
Introduced in Leave No Gap, COMPASS gives agencies a clear pathway from training to full implementation — with ongoing support from Front Line Wellness and Code 3 Legacy.

Why This Matters for Leadership
Preparedness is a leadership responsibility.
⚖️
Organizational liability
Agencies without documented LODD protocols face significant legal and administrative exposure when a death occurs. A formal SOP is your agency's protection.
👨👩👧
Family trust
Surviving families remember how their agency showed up. A prepared, organized response builds trust. An unprepared one causes lasting damage.
🏛️
Organizational resilience
A LODD affects the entire agency. Leadership that is prepared to act decisively protects the wellbeing of surviving colleagues and the long-term health of the department.
