Carry On.

LODD Family Preparedness Training

⏱ 2 Hours

👥 Personnel + Families

📄 Carry On Packet Included

What is Carry On?

Carry On is a 2-hour experiential training session designed for front line personnel and their families. It is the cornerstone program of Code 3 Legacy and Front Line Wellness — built around one core belief: preparedness only works if it happens before the worst day arrives.

Unlike a lecture or a handout, Carry On is experiential by design. Every attendee works through the LODD Family Preparedness Packet during the session — making real decisions about funeral wishes, financial resources, legal documents, and notification preferences — so that no family member is ever left to figure it out alone under the weight of grief.

The Carry On Packet is started in the room and completed at home with a spouse or partner — turning the training into a living document the whole family owns.

This is not a training about dying. It is a training about being ready to carry on.

04

Notification Preferences

Who gets called first, how they're told, and what role the agency plays versus what the family controls.

02

Benefits Overview

PSOB, PSOEA, COBRA, life insurance, CBA benefits — what's available and how to access it when time is critical.

05

Peer Support Planning

Identifying peer support contacts, CISM resources, and who should be activated when a LODD occurs.

03

Legal Document Checklist

Wills, powers of attorney, beneficiary designations, and where the documents are stored

06

Guest & Media Restrictions

Who is welcome at the service, how media is handled, and what boundaries the family wants respected.

The Carry On Packet.

Every attendee starts the Carry On Packet during the session and completes it at home with their spouse or partner. It is a living document — not a one-time form. Review and update it as life changes.

  • Fillable Word document — easy to update anytime

  • Covers all six training topic areas

  • Designed to be completed together as a couple

  • Stored at home where the family can access it

  • Referenced by the agency's LODD SOP when needed
